Today’s the big day. If buyers aren’t under contract by today, they will loose the opportunity for using the tax credit. There has been little to no talk of any extensions, so it seems this will may be it for any home buyer tax credits for now.
There’s been much talk in the industry as to whether or not this will have any impact on the housing market after the credit goes away. The verdict seems to be that buyers will still buy…and why shouldn’t they? Interest rates are still great, housing prices are still competitive. And after all, we are just getting into the busiest time of the year for home sales. Typically, March thru October are the “heavier” sales months in the Denver Market. As of yesterday, mortgage rates were at about 5%. That’s great! So, even if you may have missed the deadline for home purchase, there’s still wonderful opportunity for home buyers.
